Cleveland Composers Guild Announces the Winner of their Fifth Annual Undergraduate Composition Contest

Congratulations to Jiří Trtík, composition student of Keith Fitch at the Cleveland Institute of Music on winning our Fifth Annual Undergraduate Composition Contest. His work Improvisation No.30 (After Kandinsky) for cello can be heard on the Small Pieces | Big Impressions program on Thursday, April 5, 7:30pm at Kendal at Oberlin and Sunday, April 8, 7:00pm at Judson Manor in University Circle. The piece will be performed by Wesley Hornpetrie of our collaborators The Syndicate For The New Arts.

Second prize was awarded to Nabil Abad, composition student of Clint Needham at Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory for his Seven Miniatures for Strings. 

The Cleveland Composers Guild would like to thank the judges, all students who submitted works to be considered for this competition, and their teachers. We encourage the students to keep writing and look forward to hearing their works in the future.
